Rays Minor League Roundup: Week 13

The Rays top prospect, Carson Williams, is having a torrid June

This week’s minor league roundup will only feature the numbers accumulated prior to the start of play on Tuesday.

This was the 13th week of minor league play.

According to FanGraphs (which factors in age and proximity to the big leagues), the overall top hitter in the Rays farm system has changed once again. 25-year old Tristan Peters continues to hold the top spot. The Rays originally acquired Peters from the Giants in a 40-man roster deadline deal following the 2022 season. Thus far in 2025, Peters is hitting .299/.388/.454 with 6 HR and 9 SB over 289 plate appearances, registering a 124 wRC+

Meanwhile, Ian Seymour usurped as the top pitcher in the Rays system. That spot is now held by Joe Boyle, whom the Rays acquired this past offseason. Boyle had dealt with extreme command issues for his entire career, but seems to have put them behind him now. Entering play on Tuesday, Boyle has a 1.83 ERA | 3.51 FIP with a 32.3 K% & 10.0 BB% over 64 IP.

RUMBLINGS

  • Carson Williams is surging thus far in June. Over 17 games, the Rays top prospect is hitting .313/.413/.609 with 5 HR and has a 27.6 K% & 10.5 BB% over 76 PA
  • Kyle Gibson opted out of his minor league deal with the Rays. Gibson had made 4 starts for Triple-A Durham, compiling a 0.52 ERA | 2.07 FIP with a 33.8 K% & 9.2 BB% over 17 1⁄3 IP. Marc Topkin mentions that if Gibson is unable to find a MLB opportunity elsewhere, the door is open for him to return to the Rays.
  • Richie Palacios’ rehab assignment may have hit a snag as he is dealing knee soreness
  • Tre’ Morgan was activated from his stint on the Injured List
  • Ben Peoples receives some recognition from Baseball America among their Statcast Standouts of the Week
  • Travis Jankowsi, who served as a solid replacement player for a few with the Rays, signed a minor league deal with the New York Mets a couple of weeks ago
  • Andres Galan, the Rays 17th round pick in 2024, was mentioned in a FanGraphs article

Andres Galan is 5-0 with a 1.54 ERA and a 22.5% strikeout rate over 41 innings between the Florida Complex League and Low-A Charleston. A 17th-round pick last year out of the University of California Berkeley, the 21-year-old right-hander is unranked on our Tampa Bay Rays Top Prospects list.
