Randy Arozarena among GQ Mexico Men of the Year for 2023

The Rays star’s profile continues to grow.

Rays left fielder Randy Arozarena, arguably the face of the franchise, has been announced as a finalist for GQ’s Man of the Year award in Mexico in an article titled, via translation, “Randy Arozarena and how he has made history in Mexican baseball.”

Baseball is once again a force in national sports thanks to figures like Randy Arozarena and the efforts of managers and coaches dedicated to a single passion.

The GQ article lays out the case for Randy Arozarena’s notoriety in Mexico, beginning with his performance on March 16th in the quarterfinals of the World Baseball Classic, and extending to his cultural influence impacting musicians like Bad Bunny.

Mexico’s edition of GQ is, as expected, written in Spanish, but one segment stands out even when put through tools like Google Translate:

“How much work did it take you to learn to be a superstar, to behave like a rockstar?” I ask him when we finally sit down for the interview.

“The process has been hard, beautiful, and the truth is I feel proud of myself. I have gone through a lot of work, sacrifice, that has brought me to where I am today. To go to an All-Star Game , to go to a World Classic , to be rookie of the year, to break records… So, I enjoy it a lot and it is what excites me the most. I like to emphasize everything that has been the process, because without a process, a hard one, there is no success. And that has been the key to my success.”
