The Tampa Bay Rays announced that Evan Longoria will be inducted into the Rays Hall of Fame in 2026 in a formal ceremony to further celebrate his legacy. First, on June 7 before the game against the Miami Marlins at 4:10 p.m. at George M. Steinbrenner Field in Tampa, Longoria will sign a one-day contract and officially retire as a Tampa Bay Ray.

Previous Rays Hall of Fame inductees include former Rays senior advisor Don Zimmer (posthumously), Tampa native Wade Boggs, All-Star left fielder Carl Crawford, Rays Radio broadcaster Dave Wills (posthumously) and National Hall of Fame inductee Fred McGriff.

The Rays are kicking off the celebration on June 7 when Longoria will retire as a Ray after 16 seasons in Major League Baseball, 10 of which he played for the Rays. There will be a pregame news conference, first pitch and a special T-shirt giveaway for all fans.

During his time with Tampa Bay, Longoria was a three-time All-Star and three-time Gold Glove winner. He was named AL Rookie of the Year in 2008 and was the 2009 AL Silver Slugger recipient at third base, becoming the second player in team history to earn a Silver Slugger.

More details on Longoria’s 2026 Rays Hall of Fame induction will be announced ahead of next season when the team returns to Tropicana Field. Details are expected to include information on a formal, televised ceremony, an all-fan giveaway and special dedications. During the ceremony Longoria will receive a personalized Hall of Fame blazer.
