Oilers Will Be Without Goal-Scoring Winger for Rest of Game 4 vs Stars

May 28, 2025 by Last Word On Hockey

The Oilers caught a tough break in Game 4. Mason Marchment tried to hit Zach Hyman a little after nine minutes in. The Edmonton Oilers and Dallas Stars were doing battle in Game 4 of their Western Conference Final with the Oilers currently up two-games-to-one in the series. It appeared that it is a right hand or wrist injury for Zach Hyman.

Edmonton Oilers Zach Hyman Possible Injury

The game was very intense. Especially so after a sequence of a John Klingberg penalty for holding Matt Duchene. Then, there was a missed hooking call on the Stars. That really caused the intensity in the game to kick start. That’s when the play happened. Next, when the Oilers power play did eventually take the ice, Hyman was missing. Needless to say, the Leon Draisaitl one-timer on the feed from Ryan Nugent-Hopkins, ignited the home crowd.

What’s the Difference for the Oilers Without Hyman

If Zach Hyman has an injury, they will be missing an invaluable piece to Edmonton’s success. His two goal and three point performance in Game 3 was truly a pivotal piece to the lineup. Furthermore, he is great at wreaking havoc in front. He can really help wear a team down through a long playoff series. Looks like a severe injury and he’s not coming back tonight was the discussion between Elliotte Friedman  and Kelly Hrudey at the first intermission of Game 4. Hyman will be missed and someone will have to pick up his in case.

Evander Kane could very well be a great option to pick it up for the Oilers. Another option is Corey Perry. Whoever it ends up being, the Oilers or their fans don’t mind. They just hope they won’t be without Hyman passed tonight. However, given the scene we saw unfold, it is possible it goes beyond this game. Now, the Mattias Ekholm return could play that much more of a pivotal role if it happens sooner rather than later to try to boost the Oilers lineup in Hyman’s potential absence.
