Boston Bruins Defender Jordan Harris Out Two Months After Surgery

The defender was injured after fracturing his ankle on October 21 against the Florida Panthers. He managed to play 15 minutes, 20 seconds against the Panthers, while registering three shots. However, he was seen limping after logging three shots in the game.

Harris has played for the Montreal Canadiens, Columbus Blue Jackets, and the Bruins over his five-year NHL career. The Haverhill, Mass. native has a goal and an assist for two points in five games so far this season. He’s been averaging 15:38 in ice time so far this campaign.

Harris has 10 goals and 29 assists for 39 points in 169 career games. Montreal selected him in the third round, 71st overall, of the 2018 NHL Draft.

He also had a decorated collegiate career with Northeastern University in the NCAA. Harris also represented the United States at the 2020 IIHF World Junior Championships.

What It Means

The defenceman was starting to carve out a spot in the Bruins’ lineup after signing a one-year deal over the summer. Harris had struggled in recent seasons to get steady game time. The most games he’s played in a season were 65 with the Canadiens in the 2022-23 campaign. However, he was finding his footing with the Bruins.

Harris had made the team as a seventh blueliner, but was filling in for the injured Hampus Lindholm. Both Michael Callahan and Jonathan Aspirot have seen action while Harris has been out.

It seems likely that Harris will be out for the rest of the calendar year. However, there’s hope that he’ll be ready to go once the calendar flips to 2026.
