The college basketball coaching carousel is starting to speed up as more and more teams see their seasons officially come to an end. Mere hours after Georgia Tech fired Josh Pastner, another former Yellow Jackets head coach is getting axed.

According to Jon Rothstein via The Athletic’s Nicole Auerbach, South Florida have parted ways with head coach Brian Gregory. The decision comes hours after USF’s AAC Tournament elimination at the hands of East Carolina.

Gregory went 79-107 in six years with the team, recording 14 or fewer wins in five seasons. His best year came during the 2018-19 season, when he led the Bulls to the CBI and won the tournament title.

However in his six years at the helm he never once took South Florida to the NCAA Tournament or even finished better than seventh in the conference.

Brian Gregory rose to prominence as the head coach of Dayton. In his first year with the Flyers, Gregory went 24-9 and led them to the NCAA Tournament.

Over his eight years at Dayton, the Flyers went 172-94, reaching the NCAA Tournament twice and an upset win over 6-seeded West Virginia as an 11-seed in the 2009 tournament. Gregory led Dayton to the NIT title in 2010 and was hired as head coach at Georgia Tech in 2011.

Success didn’t follow Gregory to Georgia Tech though. In five years with the Yellow Jackets he went 76-86 and never reached the NCAA Tournament.

Who will South Florida hire to replace him?
