Jahmal McMurray To Visit St. John’s, Virginia Tech This Week

Jahmal McMurray, one of the hottest commodities on the transfer market, plans to visit two schools this week in his quest to find a new home.

The former South Florida point guard informed ZAGSBLOG that he will visit St. John’s on Wednesday and Virginia Tech on Friday.

McMurray is also considering Baylor, Arizona State, and Western Kentucky.

That’s not too bad of a list for the former three-star recruit, whose additional offers out of high school consisted of programs like East Tennessee State, Sam Houston State, and Liberty.

The 6-foot sophomore was averaging 20.3 points per game, including a 10-of-20 showing from behind the arc, in three games this season for USF before announcing his decision to transfer last Tuesday.

He had been suspended for the first six games due to an undisclosed issue.

A preseason Second Team All-AAC member, McMurray averaged 15.2 points per game on 39% shooting last year.

“I wish him the best, wish him luck, love him as a kid,” said USF coach Orlando Antigua, per Tampa Bay Times. “And we’re going to continue to proceed with the guys we’ve got here.”

Chris Mullin and St. John’s have one commitment for next season in four-star center Zach Brown.

The Red Storm, which hosts Butler on Thursday, also have a potential scholarship available for McMurray with Yankuba Sima transferring earlier this month.

Buzz Williams and Virginia Tech, meanwhile, have a pair of incoming four-stars locked up for 2017-2018 in guards Nickeil Alexander-Walker and Wabissa Bede.
