Five-time Pro Bowler and one-time Super Bowl champion Mike Evans has signed a new two-year, $52 million contract with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The deal comes with $35 million in guaranteed money. Evans, a former first-round pick, has spent the entirety of his career with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Mike Evans, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Agree to Contract

Mike Evans entered the 2023 season with relatively low expectations. Entering his age-30 season and playing without star quarterback Tom Brady, most believed that Evans would have a hard time hitting the 1,000-yard mark. Instead, the star receiver proved the world wrong once again, recording 79 receptions for 1,255 yards and 13 touchdowns on 136 targets. His touchdown receptions led the league, while his yardage and receptions were both his personal best marks since the 2018 season. Following this phenomenal campaign, Evans earned the fifth Pro Bowl nomination of his career.

Evans originally entered the league as a first-round pick in the 2014 NFL Draft. Selected by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, the Texas A&M product immediately established himself as the top option in the passing attack. Starting and appearing in 15 games, Mike Evans finished his rookie season with 68 receptions for 1,051 yards and 12 touchdowns on 122 targets. Despite his impressive season, the team finished with the worst record in football and used the ensuing first-overall pick on Jameis Winston.

Evans and Winston immediately established a strong connection, as the wideout recorded 394 receptions for 6,209 yards and 36 touchdowns in the five seasons with Winston as his primary quarterback. However, the team decided to part ways with the former first-overall pick and roll with Tom Brady in 2020. That decision proved to be a wise one, as Brady led the team to their second Super Bowl championship in team history. During that campaign, Mike Evans recorded 70 receptions for 1,006 yards and 13 touchdowns.

Since signing his rookie contract, Mike Evans has appeared in 154 games. While on the field, the wideout has recorded 762 receptions for 11,680 yards and 94 touchdowns.
