The Buccaneers could reportedly be looking to unload one of Tom Brady’s most trusted protectors.
Per Jeremy Fowler of ESPN: “The Bucs are exploring trade possibilities with guard Shaq Mason, per sources.” Adding, “With a $9.6M cap hit, Mason could become a cap casualty for the cap-strapped Bucs. A quality guard appears ready to enter the market.”
The NFL world reacted to the potential trade news on Monday.
“Tom Brady Effect has a completely different meaning, these days,” a user said.
“This has been mentioned as a strong possibility due to the salary cap and the need to create more space for a QB and any opportunity to re-sign Lavonte David etc.,” Rick Stroud reported.
“With Hainsey and Leverett under contract I’m ok with this if it means we can keep 54,” a fan admitted.
“Local guy (from Columbia, TN) at a need position. Would prefer to wait until he’s cut to preserve draft capital, but Titans could be an option here,” tweeted Mike Herndon.
“A Shaq Mason trade could make a lot of sense,” a Cards fan replied. “He’s a very good G and has ties with Ossenfort from NE.”
Things are going to be looking very different in Tampa.
