After making a late-season push with the Rams, Baker Mayfield is reportedly headed back to the NFC South.
According to NFL Media’s Tom Pelissero, the Bucs are finalizing a deal with the former No. 1 overall pick, giving him the chance to follow-up Tom Brady in Tampa.
The NFL world reacted to Wednesday’s Baker news on social media.
“We should create the Baker Mayfield Game of the Year. Once a year, Baker is blindfolded and flown to a random team. He doesn’t know the team, and they don’t know he’s their QB until he shows up at the facility. Try to recreate the LAR vs LVR magic,” tweeted Mike Golic Jr.
“BAKER A 27 YEAR FORMER NUMBER 1 OVERALL PICK AND ALREADY A JOURNEYMAN QB,” a user laughed.
“This headline is coded,” another said. “If you read closely, you can see it actually reads as: ‘Bucs are finalizing a deal to secure future No. 1 overall pick Caleb Williams, per sources.'”
“His last pass of last season did help a team get into the playoffs,” replied Bob Condotta.
In five games with Los Angeles, Baker threw for 850 yards, four touchdowns and two picks while completing nearly 64% of his passes.
