Buccaneers’ new OC Zac Robinson was asked about how he may structure their offense with the personnel available, responding that he can see “advantages” to using pistol formations and wants a “true run-and-pass marriage.”
“We won’t dive too much into that. Obviously, we’re tailoring everything to your personnel and what you believe is the best way to move the football and there’s definitely some advantages to that — working out of the pistol. My background comes from [Rams’ Head Coach] Sean [McVay] and true run-and-pass marriage, underneath the center, all those things that come with that. Obviously, we’ll pick our spots with what that looks like exactly and we’ll find out once we kick it off in September,” Robinson said, via BucsWire.
Cowboys
Cowboys EVP Stephen Jones said the team hopes to re-sign both RB Javonte Williams and WR George Pickens, while stating that they’re going to focus on rebuilding their defense this offseason.
“Obviously, there’s guys that we want to keep from last year,” Jones said, via PFT. “Whether it’s George Pickens or it’s Javonte, those are all guys that play into the free agency picture. We’ve got work to do on the defensive side of the ball. Whether that’s through free agency or the draft, there’s a lot of resources there that we can use to make our defense better.”
Seahawks
The Seahawks are set to play in the Super Bowl against the Patriots, which will mark LB Ernest Jones IV and WR Cooper Kupp‘s first title-game appearance since 2021 with the Rams. Kupp said Jones texted him shortly after their NFC Championship win to soak in the moment.
“He said, ‘We are on the cusp of competing for a Super Bowl, we’re right there,’” Kupp said, via John Boyle of the team’s site. “He sent that to me like, ‘I told you right there.’ That’s what we’re all striving for. You try to go out there and win a world title… It’s really cool to be a part of this one and be able to build what this has become here. It’s just been an incredible blessing.”
Kupp praised the culture in Seattle and how everyone in the organization is bought in.
“I still don’t really have words for it,” Kupp said. “It’s just been such an incredible journey. Just to see the excitement around here. Being a part of this team, this organization, seeing the excitement that there is around Seattle, how many people are bought into it and all-in on what we’ve created in this building, and how it’s permeated out. It’s just really cool to be a part of, and looking forward to going out there in a couple of weeks with an opportunity to seal the deal. It’s been really cool.”
Kupp had a critical third-down conversion in the fourth quarter of their NFC Championship win over the Rams. Kupp was glad to make an impact in that important moment.
“It was a really cool thing to be a part of, and there was a small part of me that knew at the end of the game, it was going to come down to, ‘Man, it’s going to come down to me having to make a play,’” Kupp said. “I know it is, so be to be in that place and have the opportunity to make that play, it meant a lot. It was a really cool thing to be a part of.”
