Tampa Bay Buccaneers wideout Mike Evans seems some similarities with Baker Mayfield and Johnny Manziel.
For those that are concerned, Evans did stress that the similarities are good.
“He’s similar to Johnny, his playing style,” Evans said, (first transcribed by ProFootballTalk). “I mean, really similar. So it was easy to adjust to play with him. Shorter quarterback. Great athlete. Throws like a baseball player, like really tight spiral. Really good arm. Improvise, can do all those things. Super tough. So I’m looking forward to seeing what we can do this year.”
Both Mayfield and Manziel have cannons for arms and they also play fearless. They’re not afraid to take a hit to make a play.
That fearlessness earned Mayfield a long-term contract with the Bucs this offseason after he balled out for them during the 2023 season. He finished with 4,044 yards and 28 touchdowns while leading the Bucs to the divisional round of the NFC playoffs.
He’ll now try and lead the Bucs on a deeper playoff run as they’re set to contend for the NFC South again this season.
There’s a good chance that he and Evans combine for quite a few touchdowns once the 2024 season gets underway.
