Former Tampa Bay Buccaneers linebacker Geno Hayes has died at the age of 33.
The team issued a statement Tuesday acknowledging Hayes’ passing, and lauding him for his accomplishments, both on the field and in the Tampa Bay community throughout his career.
Hayes had recently entered Hospice care as he fought liver disease.
A sixth-round pick in the 2008 NFL draft out of Florida State, Hayes spent four seasons with the Bucs before finishing his pro football career with the Chicago Bears and Jacksonville Jaguars.
