The Tampa Bay Buccaneers offense was among the best in the NFL in 2024. Whenever you have a group as efficient as the Bucs offense was, people are going to want to poach coaches and players away from it. The Jaguars landed their offensive coordinator, Liam Coen, as their new head coach.
Now, a poll conducted by ESPN analysts has one suggesting the Jaguars land Bucs free agent wide receiver Chris Godwin.
Within the poll conducted by ESPN with their various NFL-related analysts, one question that was asked was, “What is one move you want to see this offseason?”
Eric Moody responded with, “Wide receiver Chris Godwin signs with the Jaguars. The breakout of wide receiver Jalen McMillan and tight end Cade Otton makes Godwin expendable if the Buccaneers want to improve other areas of the team, especially given his injury history. I could see Godwin joining his former offensive coordinator, Liam Coen, and playing alongside Brian Thomas Jr.”
The idea of Godwin leaving seems far-fetched, but there are two places that make sense for him and have the positional need. The Jaguars make sense and have a connection with Coen, as mentioned. The Raiders also have a positional need as well as a connection with their new general manager, John Spytek, who came from the Bucs front office.
There are going to be a lot of suitors for the Bucs’ veteran wide receiver as he hits free agency.
