The offseason is the biggest part of any NFL team. Whether they are coming off a Super Bowl win like the Eagles or getting ready for the first pick like the Titans. They and everyone in between have tough decisions ahead of them to be in the best position possible for 2025.
For the Bucs, PFF has an idea of what the next season may come down to if one position mattered the most.
Pro Football Focus discussed which position every NFL team will have to make the biggest decisions with. For the Bucs, they say it all will come down to what happens at linebacker for the team.
Discussing the potential of a Lavonte David departure, they write, “. . .General manager Jason Licht has excelled by keeping his players, but he’s also a cutting-edge executive who can predict decline. Whether to keep David, let alone still make him the centerpiece of Tampa’s defense, is a tough, heartfelt call. There’s a real chance that the Buccaneers could have two new starters over the middle.”
Not many Bucs fans will want to entertain the idea of losing Lavonte David, and they should not. His projected deal is very manageable for the Bucs, and his leadership, even if he has a decline in production, is worth it.
As we approach free agency, it is going to be a tough couple of weeks for the Bucs and their fans.
