The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have had to take a deep breath and return to the drawing board in planning for their 2025 team’s offense. After being left at the alter, again, by offensive coordinator Liam Coen, Todd Bowles has a huge hole in his coaching staff that needs to be filled with expediency.
On Saturday the club began moving in that direction, conducting an interview over the interwebs with Chargers’ passing game coordinator, Marcus Brady.

Brady, 45, joined the Chargers in their first year under head coach Jim Harbaugh in 2024. His and the new staff’s impact was immediate, as the Chargers moved from 15th in passing game DVOA (defensive-adjusted value over average) to 8th. DVOA basically measures how well a team performs based on opponent difficulty and game situation.
The Chargers were 32.8% better than the average team in the offensive passing game in 2024 behind a strong season by QB Justin Herbert. If hired to join the Bucs, he’d be in charge of an even better performing offense, as Tampa Bay finished firth in the NFL last year at 34.4%.
Brady is a former CFL quarterback who played for Toronto, Hamilton and Montreal from 2002 through 2008. Undrafted out of Cal State Northridge, he has coached since 2009, including NFL stints with Indianapolis (2018 through 2022) that included time as an offensive coordinator, and Philadelphia (2022-2023) before landing with the Chargers this past season.
