One of the league’s oldest coaches has been recognized for his work.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers offensive consultant Tom Moore, who has coached football since 1965, was given the Award of Excellence by the Pro Football Hall of Fame on Friday. Per the Hall of Fame, the Award of Excellence is given to those who “propelled the success of individual teams and the sport of professional football.”
Moore certainly qualifies. He’s 84 years old, and he got his first true coaching job as Dayton’s running backs coach in 1965. His first NFL job was in 1977, and he’s since worked for nine teams, Tampa Bay being the latest. Moore is a four-time Super Bowl champion and is most known with his 10-year stint as offensive coordinator for the Indianapolis Colts from 1998 to 2008.
Moore joined the Bucs in 2019, where he’s worked as an offensive consultant. He will remain with Tampa Bay for the upcoming 2023 season, which will be his 45th in the NFL.
