The Jacksonville Jaguars have been continuing their head coaching search, and one of its notable names dropped out this week. Lions offensive coordinator Ben Johnson is finalizing a deal to become the Bears head coach.
As a result, the Jaguars are moving on to the second round of their head coaching search. The new focus of their head coaching search is Bucs offensive coordinator Liam Coen who is scheduled for a second interview with the team.
Jordan Schultz of Fox Sports reported the advancement of Coen in the Jaguars search on Monday.
Coen has made sense for the Jaguars for a while with their offense being centered around franchise quarterback Trevor Lawrence having a career renaissance. Coen would also inherit playmakers Evan Engram, Travis Etienne, and rookie phenom Brian Thomas Jr.
If Coen were to get the job, it would mark the second straight offseason where the Bucs would have to find a replacement for their offensive coordinator. In 2024, Dave Canalas left the Bucs for the Carolina Panthers to become their head coach.
