TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — It’s contract year for Bucs cornerback Zyon McCollum. He is now in year four of his rookie deal, and needless to say, that motivates him even more to have a successful year.
“It adds so much to it. You know I mean, I love the Bucs and I wanna make place for the Bucs,” McCollum said.
“Knowing the opportunity that I have in front of me really, really excites me. It puts a new chip on my shoulder. I feel like I was a rookie coming in here. I gotta prove it all over again and continue to rise my game to the next level,” said McCollum.
That isn’t the only motivator. Head coach Todd Bowles told the DB room in their exit meetings that he wants to bring new players in to boost the competition.
That competition includes players like this year’s draft picks Benjamin Morrison and Jacob Parrish, both new cornerbacks.
“Off the bed it’s new energy and in the room you can feel the intensity just starting to rise up and it’s good to embrace it for us to come together everybody’s fighting and to get to that next level and we’re trying to coach these young guys up as quickly as possible we wanna be able to go,” McCollum.
