With Dave Canales leaving to become the head coach of the Carolina Panthers, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers are going to be moving to their third offensive coordinator in as many years. Today, they officially found their man.
On Saturday, the Buccaneers formally named Liam Coen as their new offensive coordinator. Coen joins the Bucs after spending last year as the offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach of the Kentucky Wildcats.
Coen has been a rising star in both the NFL and college football for a few years now. He was the assistant wide receivers coach of the Rams from 2018 to 2019 before being named their assistant quarterbacks coach in 2020, then left to become the offensive coordinator at Kentucky in 2021.
Other stops for Coen in his career include Brown, Rhode Island, UMass and Maine between 2010 and 2017.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers surprised many by not only making the playoffs in their first year post-Tom Brady – with Baker Mayfield as their quarterback no less – but knocking off the reigning NFC champion Philadelphia Eagles in the playoffs.
Coen is going to have his work cut out for him trying to replicate the success that his two predecessors in Tampa Bay have had.
Do you think the Bucs’ offense will be better or worse next year?
