The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are sending one of their top offensive linemen to the AFC.
According to NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero, the Bucs are trading guard Shaq Mason to the Houston Texans.
Aaron Wilson then reported that the Texans are sending a sixth-round pick back to the Bucs while also getting a seventh-rounder with Mason in the deal.
Mason had been in trade rumors over the last couple of days after ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler reported that the Bucs were exploring possible trades involving Mason.
He started every game in 2022 as that was his first season as a Buccaneer. He had spent the previous seven seasons with the New England Patriots before he was dealt to the Bucs last March.
This will clear almost $10 million in cap space for the Bucs as they look ahead to spending in free agency.
For the Texans, Mason is added protection for whoever their next quarterback will be.
