Breaking: Bills $52 Million Star Could Be On Trade Block

October 6, 2025 by Last Word On Pro Football

Despite the Buffalo Bills being a postseason contender again this year, they could put veteran Dawson Knox on the trade block. According to one analyst, he believes there’s a chance that the Bills may trade Knox at some point due to the emergence of rookie tight end Jackson Hawes. The Bills already have one of the best tight ends in Dalton Kincaid, so this trade would only make sense at the right price. The same source suggested that the Bills should trade Knox to teams like the Falcons or Panthers, but there are plenty of better suitors out there for him if Buffalo does want to move on from Knox.

Originally selected in the third round of the 2019 NFL Draft, the former Ole Miss product became one of Josh Allen’s favorite targets in the aerial attack up until 2023. After the Kincaid got drafted two offseasons ago, Knox has become an afterthought on this offense, even though he is still getting some type of attention. However, Hawes might be the latest Bill to take over his backup duties if the Bills decide to part ways with Knox. There hasn’t been any suggestion from the Bills’ front office that the team wants to move forward without Knox, but he is entering the final year of his contract next season.

It’ll be interesting to see what happens here, but here are some possible suitors for the former 2022 Pro Bowler if they generate trade interest for Knox.

Possible Next Teams

Washington Commanders

The Washington Commanders are building one of the oldest teams in the league to maximize the rookie contract of quarterback Jayden Daniels. With Zach Ertz just signed on a one-year contract, he could retire as soon as after this 2025 regular season. Second-year backup tight end Ben Sinnott has yet to prove that he could take over duties once Ertz retires. This means the Commanders should be in the market for another formidable pass-catcher to replace Ertz, and that could be Knox.

While the trade might not happen anytime soon, it’s something to keep an eye on as the Commanders will continue to salvage both their offense and defense with veteran talent that could upgrade them in the best position to win a Super Bowl.

Philadelphia Eagles

Meanwhile, the Philadelphia Eagles were trying to move on without Dallas Goedert and start new this season. Ultimately, the Eagles kept Goedert on a reduced contract, but a trade is still possible, especially if Jalen Hurts isn’t utilizing the passing offense as much, and that is evident due to AJ Brown’s recent frustrations. While the ground game, special teams and defense have been keeping this group in each matchup to their 4-0 start, they must upgrade the receiving unit after Goedert.

Knox could be the latest starter to turn explosive in this scheme as long as they create situations to throw the football.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers

However, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers will likely be in the market for a tight end soon if they don’t extend starter Cade Otton. He wants to stay in Tampa Bay, but he doesn’t feel like the Buccaneers have the same energy for him. While the Buccaneers are increasingly getting better on offense, especially drafting of wide receiver Emeka Egbuka, they must continue upgrading the tight end unit. Knox is a perfect replacement if Otton doesn’t come back.
