Baker Mayfield’s Wife Has Blunt Message For Everyone After Playoff Win

Support for Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Baker Mayfield has ebbed and flowed through the years, but his greatest supporter – his wife Emily Mayfield – wanted to let everyone know how she feels about his doubters.

In her latest Instagram Story, Emily Mayfield wrote about how proud she was of her husband for his performance against the Philadelphia Eagles in last night’s playoff game. She then declared that he kept working hard in spite of the “naysayers” and “people wanting him to fail.”

“The smile is everything,” she wrote. “So much adversity. So many naysayers. People wanting him to fail. He hasn’t stopped working, he never stopped believing … I am SO proud of him. Onto the next one, @buccaneers.”

There’s no denying that Baker Mayfield has enjoyed a resurgence with the Buccaneers. This past season saw him post career-highs in nearly all categories as he led the team to a 9-8 record, an NFC South title and their first postseason appearance with any quarterback other than Tom Brady since 2007.

Mayfield is unlikely to win the NFL Comeback Player of the Year award as he’s going up against Damar Hamlin, who nearly lost his life on the football field last season.

But he’ll be a finalist for sure and should be a close second.

We’re all very proud of him.
