Baker Mayfield had a career-best year in 2024, finishing as the overall QB4. The Buccaneers added to their wide receiver room by drafting Emeka Egbuka in addition to re-signing Chris Godwin. Mayfield is going high in fantasy drafts right now, so he is going to cost an early pick. Is he worth the early pick, and what is Baker Mayfield’s fantasy football outlook in 2025?
Fantasy Football Outlook for Baker Mayfield
Recent Production
Baker Mayfield has his second straight year as a top-ten fantasy quarterback since coming over to the Bucs. He never finished as a top fifteen quarterback in his previous five seasons with the Browns and Rams. Mayfield had career highs in passing yards and passing touchdowns, with 4100 and 41, respectively. He did lead the league with 16 interceptions, though. He rushed the most in his career, too, with 378 rushing yards and three touchdowns.
Mayfield was a very consistent quarterback, finishing as a top ten weekly quarterback in twelve out of the seventeen weeks. He could be trusted as a QB1 almost every week. Even in the game in which he had three interceptions, he finished as the overall QB2 of the week, so he was able to overcome his turnover problem.
2025 Outlook
Tampa Bay re-signed Chris Godwin, who is coming off a severe injury, and will probably miss the start of training camp, so his Week 1 status is in doubt. However, Mayfield has plenty of other weapons. Mike Evans is 32 years old, but he was still able to play at a high level last season. Jalen McMillan showed great flashes as a rookie last year. The Bucs added Emeka Egbuka in the first round of the 2025 NFL Draft to join the great wide receiver room. Tight end Cade Otton and running backs Bucky Irving and Rachaad White are great pass-catching options, too. Mayfield has a plethora of weapons to throw to.

Mayfield ADP
According to FantasyPros, Mayfield is being drafted as the QB7 on all platforms. The top five of Lamar Jackson, Josh Allen, Jayden Daniels, Jalen Hurts, and Joe Burrow are in a tier of their own. Patrick Mahomes and Mayfield are the next two going right around each other and two rounds ahead of the next quarterback, Bo Nix. Mayfield is going at the end of the fifth round in ten-team leagues, which is a steep price to pay for Mayfield.
At QB7, Mayfield is being drafted at his ceiling. It is unlikely that he will finish as a top-five quarterback again this season due to natural regression. The dual-threat quarterbacks have a much higher ceiling due to their rushing threat. Although Mayfield had career highs in rushing last season, he will likely regress in this area as well in 2025.
Should You Draft or Pass on Baker Mayfield in 2025 Fantasy Football?
Fantasy football drafts are all about value. Managers want to draft players who are going to outperform their ADP. Mayfield being drafted at his ceiling is not good value. Mayfield should have a very good season, and who can easily finish as a top ten to twelve quarterback. However, there are quarterbacks going much later in drafts that also have that potential and have much better value. I would rather wait on a quarterback and take a wide receiver or running back in the fifth than draft Mayfield. Therefore, I am unfortunately passing on Mayfield in redraft formats this season.
