Better late than never.

The National Football League today announced that Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Baker Mayfieldwas named to the 2025 Pro Bowl Games, replacing Washington Commanders quarterback Jayden Daniels, who is unable to participate due to injury. It marks the second career Pro Bowl honor for Mayfield (2023, 2024), making him the first quarterback in Buccaneers franchise history to be selected to the Pro Bowl multiple times.

Mayfield put forth a career season in 2024, completing 407-of-540 passes (71.4%) for 4,500 yards and 41 touchdowns, earning a passer rating of 106.8. For the second consecutive season, he established career highs in completions, completion percentage, passing yards and passing touchdowns, while also setting new career bests in passer rating (106.8) and net yards per pass attempt (7.9). Mayfield set new Buccaneers single-season franchise records in completion percentage and passer rating, while finishing second in touchdown passes.

During his record-setting season, Mayfield became the fourth passer in NFL history to throw for 4,000+ yards, 40+ touchdowns, and record a 70% or higher completion rate, joining Drew Brees (2011), Joe Burrow (2024) and Aaron Rodgers (2020). Mayfield became 1-of-10 players in NFL history to ever throw for 4,500+ yards and 40+ touchdowns in a single season.

Mayfield finished the season ranking among league leaders in completions (T-2nd), passing touchdowns (T-2nd), completion percentage (3rd), passing yards (3rd) and passer rating (4th). Since arriving in Tampa Bay in 2023, Mayfield has been among the league’s best, leading the NFL in passing touchdowns (69) and ranking second in passing yards (8,544).

The seventh-year veteran led a Tampa Bay offense that ranked fourth in the NFL in scoring (29.5 points per game) and finished with the second-most points scored in a single season in franchise history. The Buccaneers were the only team in the NFL to rank in the top five in both passing yards per game (250.4) and rushing yards per game (149.2), and became the first team in NFL history to complete 70% or more of their passes while averaging at least five yards per carry. Under Mayfield, Tampa Bay led the NFL in third-down conversion rate in 2024 (50.9%), establishing a new franchise record in doing so.

Mayfield will join teammates Mike Evans, Vita Vea and Tristan Wirfs at the 2025 Pro Bowl Games. Tampa Bay’s four Pro Bowlers this season are its most since 2021 (nine). The games are set to take place between January 30 through February 2 in Orlando and will be broadcasted on ESPN.
